Here Are Demi Moore's 6 Tips For Keeping Her Skin Glowing

Here Are Demi Moore's 6 Tips For Keeping Her Skin Glowing

Yes, you know Demi Moore for her epic roles in movies like Ghost and G.I. Jane, but the 57 year old actress is also likely someone who comes to mind when thinking about people who never seem to age. Her dark, waste-length hair instantly ensues envy over here. And while Moore's been known to indulge in some intense and expensive skincare practices (she said she's used leech therapy to "detoxify" her skin), she does still have some tips that can be incorporated into anyones routine. Here are six of the skincare rules Moore follows (which means you should, too).

1. She's big on moisturizer

Moore took notes from her mother when it comes to keeping her skin super hydrated. In a video for Harper's Bazaar, she said “my mother always drilled in me no matter what that you should wash, cleanse and moisturize your skin.” She also added that she lathers more than just her face with lotion, but also makes sure to cover her neck chest, and yes, boobs so that they're super moisturized, too. Her favorite moisturizer, you ask? Well, she actually uses three different kinds: Biologique Recherche Creme DermopurifianteBiologique Recherche La Grande Crème, and Retrouve Intensive Replenishing Facial Moisturizer.

2. She uses a special makeup removing towel

Moore has suuuper sensitive skin, which means she likes to use as little fragrance and pore-clogging ingredients on her face as possible. When it comes to taking off her day, she told Harper's Bazaar that she likes to use this gentle makeup-removing cloth called the Makeup Eraser. “This thing literally takes everything off," says Moore. "It’s magic." To use, all you have to do is wet the cloth with water and start gently wiping your eyes, cheeks, brows, or wherever else you put your makeup and voila! No more makeup. Bonus: this towel is *only 20 dollars on Amazon*.

3. Lymphatic drainage is a must

The Georgia Louise Lift + Sculpt Butterfly Stone is a must-use in Moore's skincare routine, according to that same HB video. After applying her serums and moisturizers, Moore rubs the stone across her jawline, up into her cheekbones, along her forehead and down her neck. “You work through all the tension in your face," says Moore. "It activates the blood flow in your skin. When you’re over 50 and you feel like your skin is hitting the floor, this is an incredible uplift.”

4. Having a good facialist is everything

Among other things, Moore is an advocate for regular treatments on her skin. When she appeared on a Goop panel in 2019, she credited her Los Angeles-based facialist and "energy healer" Terri Lawton (who she's been going to for years) for her personal glow gains. "It’s kind of a whole mind-body experience," she says. "I also really respect her opinion on products, because I know it’s very aligned with my view that they have to be active, but really clean."

5. She doesn't drink alcohol

Moore has been totally open about her long-term struggles with sobriety. In her new book, she talks about how she's relapsed more than once, but has been on the right path since before she turned 50. Regarding her issues with drinking, she told Lena Dunham in an interview for her Harper's Bazaar cover story, "I don’t want to miss a moment of life, of that texture, even if that means being in... Some pain." Turns out, Moore's work toward becoming sober has some major skin benefits, too. Alcohol decreases the amount of anti-diuretic hormones in your body, which is something that keeps your skin looking hydrated and helps your body reabsorb water.

6. Beauty starts from within

When speaking on a Goop panel with fellow celeb Gwyneth Paltrow, Moore said that her biggest skincare tip is taking care of herself from within. "Look, I don’t have any super big secret," she says. "But I definitely think beauty starts on the inside. You can do anything you want to the outside, but if the inside isn’t looking or feeling good, then I don’t know if anything you do on the outside is going to be good enough."
